Bio plastic from hair ?

by Alix

Hello,

I am a student in Product Design and while researching about bio plastics for my project on waste, I discover that a french Designer has managed to produce plastic made of human hair just by adding glycerin and sodium sulfite to it.
The result is that the hair melts into a flexible bio plastic which can be shaped into objects.

I was wondering what would be the procedure to obtain this bio plastic and what would be the exact proportions of glycerin, sodium sulfite and human hair in this recipe.

So far the plastic I manage to produce was uneven as once heat up as the mixture wasn’t melting properly or stayed really sticky once cool down.

I hope you can help me as I am struggling to obtain the right result.

Thank you
